I am a composer and improviser currently pursuing a PhD in Music Composition at UC Berkeley with an Emphasis in New Media (ABD). I study with Myra Melford, Ed Campion and Carmine Cella. In 2024, I was a visiting Graduate Research Trainee at the Input Devices and Music Interaction Lab (IDMIL) at McGill University. My work often plays with the relationship between the musician and their instrument or, more recently, between the voice and the body. On the practical side, I am interested in using sensor technology and controller design to build new musical instruments and sound installations. I mainly work in the worlds of contemporary concert music, sound art, and free improvisation. My dissertation explores music improvisation and the design of new digital interfaces for musical performance. I am building an augmented flute for my own practice improvising on voice, flute, and electronics. Additionally, I am collaborating with three other improvisers (dance, voice and movement, viola), focusing on creating interface designs that are embedded within the existing—and to an extent bespoke—technique each of them brings.
Between 2017 and 2019, I completed MMus programs in Composition and Sonic Arts at Goldsmiths, University of London under the supervision of Roger Redgate and Freida Abtan. My work has been presented in Italy, Spain, Ecuador, the United Kingdom, and the United States. My music has been performed by InConcerto (Ecuador), Nomos Group (Spain), counter)induction, Duo Damiana, and Kayleigh Butcher, among others.
